The 3 films of the Noisy ghost series have been tormented by rumors of curses since the releasing of the first Noisy ghost in 1982. In reality it was actually the focus of an E! True Hollywood Story.
Among some of the strange facts from the E! True Hollywood story. JoBeth Williams said that producers told her the skeletons employed in the famous pool scene were, in reality real skeletons. Will Sampson was told the skeletons employed in Noisy ghost II were also real. So Sampson performed an exorcism to cleanse the set. Sounds to me like the producers just liked to mess around with their actors. But the primary urban legend is that four of the stars of the series died from bizarre deaths. But in fact, 2 of the deaths were not so unusual.
The site Snopes has explored the deaths and discovered that not very much is special. They were just sad. Julian Beck, ( creepy bible thumper Kane from Noisy ghost II, pictured ) died from stomach cancer on Sep 14,1985. He was 60.Ohhh scary! Will Sampson, ( Indian spirit consultant Taylor from Noisy ghost II ) died on June three, 1987, from heart / lung transplant surgery complications grim pre-operative malnutrition and post-operative kidney failure along with a fungal illness. He was 53. While each of the previously mentioned older gentlemen's deaths could be coincidences, it is the deaths of the 2 young female stars that are rather ominous. At the age of twenty-two, Dominique Dunne ( Dana from Noisy ghost ) was choked to death by her obsessive beau, John Sweeney. Sweeney was found guilty of manslaughter and given only 6 years in jail. He was out in 2 and a half years. Heather O'Rourke ( Carol Anne from all 3 films ) died close to the end of filming Poltergeist III. In reality a body double was employed during the final scene of the film. ( You only see expounded double from the back. ) O'Rourke was assessed with what doctors thought was the influenza, but turned out to be a bowel obstruction which caused poisons to enter her system. ( The stale mis-diagnosis reeks of The Exorcist. ) She died in an emergency process to get rid of announced obstruction. She was only twelve. O'Rourke and Dunne are buried near one another in the Westwood Commemorative Park graveyard in LA. There are more curse related urban legends that revolve around Noisy ghost from first hand accounts to the definitely ridiculous. JoBeth Williams ( Diane Freeling ) claimed that each day when she returned home from filming, photos on her wall were always crooked. She would straighten them, to find them crooked again the day after. In the scariest Noisy ghost scene, where Oliver Robins ( Robbie Freeling ) was choked by the creepy clown, Robins was reported to once have been basically choked. Steven Spielberg even honored the young actor for his validity till he noticed he was in real difficulty. One of the preposterous hypotheses involves a carpark used to video a scene in Noisy ghost III the same space where the Utah Jazz basketball team plays their games. The curse reputedly explains why the Jazz suck so much. In you are interested, this website offers up a complete bunch of fun Noisy ghost facts. Hence is there truly a Noisy ghost curse or are the events just a collection of unlucky coincidences? I might edge towards the second. |
